Getting use to the life style you described and then losing that in your 30s is / would be 100% depressing.
A few years ago while living in NC my son was invited to a birthday party for a kid from school(he was about 6).
At the time we were living in s solid middle class house. The party was at a somewhat older town house… I got to talking to the dad and found out he was a former tarheel bball player who played in Europe.
He apologized the whole time about small this was and how big it could have been back when he was playing. He said he was lucky to have saved enough to buy this town home because he was moving so high because that’s what everyone did, he barely got by (so he said) with his job at UPS… he was in his early 40s
Dude seemed like a smart guy, he finished his degree but couldn’t get any better jobs because he was too old for beginning positions (so he said) and had to stick with UPS because of benefits…
He was definitely depressed with where he was even though it wasn’t bad at all really
