About a month ago there was a round up vs salt discussion on CB so I decided to give it a try.

The round-up showed signs of working fast, like 30 minutes fast. But after about 2 weeks the weeds and grass were back.

The salt was much slower. Took about 3 days to show signs it was working but no weeds a month later. Instead of mixing the salt with water and spraying it, I just bought a 40 pound bag of crystalized salt for water softeners and used my fertilizer spreader. I spread it by hand for more targeted areas.

Also, the salt cost about $8 and the round about was about $30. 40 pounds of salt covered twice the amount of area that 1 gallon of round up.
