It’s a great show and I highly recommend it, especially if you’re into WWII shows.
It follows the actions of the 100th Bomber Group (nicknamed “The Bloody 100”). It’s not an easy watch, especially the first few episodes, as it shows what many of the B-17 pilots and crews endured during many of their bombing runs into Germany.
I researched many of the characters depicted in the series and would consider some of them to be true American heroes, especially one named Robert Rosenthal. He and his crew successfully completed the required 25 missions to be sent home, and while the rest of his crew returned to the US, he extended his tour and ended up completing 52 missions. He was shot down twice and returned to flying after both times. After the war, he was an assistant to the US prosecutor at the Nuremberg trials.
