I love Camel Up, such a fun game! I called it Camel Cup forever.
Camel Up is a fun game for sure, Me and my nephew Brad both created software to determine the "Expected Value" of each move in Camel Up, turned out that rolling for 1 gold mostly helps the person after you because they get updated statistics.
We played it all Christmas break trying to program better versions of our AI to win the game, but with the amount of luck involved and the changes that the oasis/mirage bring in. . . Just turns out that programming the AI was like dissecting a frog. . . We learned a lot about the game, but also killed the fun after playing about 10ish games.
