We are hitting Windsor on our way to Salisbury the first day
Then on to Stonehenge and Bath the second day. Then up through the Cotswalds and over Oxford on day 3 and ending up back in London that night.

Go to Windsor, Bath or Henley on Thames if you leave the city

You'll like Windsor. Better than any of the London palaces.

Dover was good for the WWII museum, but Bath/Stonehenge was a better overall day trip from London for us
