I would imagine you could simmer chicken
..in chicken broth until is tender enough to shred. Then add some soy sauce, some onion powder, a little grated ginger, some sesame oil, and a half squirt of Sriracha (not for heat, but for flavor enhancement). That would make a decent flavored chicken that you could serve over rice, and add the other typical Hawaiian Haystack components. That would be ok.

You could also add some of the juice from canned pineapple to the above sauce, and let it simmer for a bit, and that would add a nice sweetness to it.

If I were required to do H.H., that's the route I would go.
