I would wait
I was thinking of going to the Texas game and your idea to combine the Dallas vs. SF game the next day is tempting. My experience is that a very high percentage of the time, it is better to buy tickets the day of the game. You will win much more often than you will lose. As long as you remember all the times you won when you might have to pony up a few more bills you could still have a good time.

For what it's worth, I waited for ND tickets until a few weeks before the game last year and thought I was getting a steal compared to Cougar Club location/price but then when the weather turned nasty the morning of the game the tickets on StubHub were a fraction of what I paid.

Finally, I was lucky enough to be at the old Cowboy's Stadium to watch the Dallas vs. SF game when Terrel Owens did his pose thing on the star at the 50 yard line and was chased by Emmit Smith and another Cowboy (see video here.. http://www.dallascowboys.com/multimedia/videos/Memorable-Moments-Teague-Knocks-Owens-Off-Star/eea87afa-61bf-4d83-82dd-f6f1d6d44249). Just before kickoff I paid about $50 for lower bowl sidelines tickets on about the 20 yard line. No clue what to expect with the new stadium.
