Navy joins the AAC this year and they have to juggle future
commitments and a conference schedule now.

Army has a scheduling philosophy:

· Schedule opponents based upon the 3-3-4 Concept,

· Schedule six or seven home games a year,

· Play two or more home games in October,

· Play one 1-AA opponent a season,

· Reduce the number of opponents who recently played in bowl games,

· Play an in-state or long-standing regional rival, and

· Appeal to the Army fan base.

The 3-3-4 Concept:

Three tough games where only a maximum effort will result in a victory.
Three games against comparably matched opponents.
Four games against weaker opponents, including one FCS school.
AF and Navy make up the rest.

I remember reading, a few years ago, that the AD does not make any scheduling phone calls because schools call him on a weekly basis.
