Why not cheer for Air force, Virginia, Texas or Navy?
I really don't get the "I cheer for Utah" bit. What redeeming value does Utah have? Why not cheer for Air Force or Navy - they have high standards, represent our military, and the players are real student athletes?

Why not root for Virginia? They are an excellent academic school that was started by the writer of the Declaration of Independence, and are a historical school.

Why not root for Texas? Instead of having their athletic department subsidized by taxpayers like the University of Utah, they actually give back to the academic side of the school.

Why not root for Notre Dame? They are also a religious school and maintain high moral standards.

Why not root for Army? They are a fellow independent, and a great institution.

With all these universities that are "virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy" to cheer for, why cheer for our enemies?

I don't cheer for ISIS, and I don't cheer for the University of Utah. (if you have a problem with the comparison I am making, feel free to complain about "Provostan" as well)

Having said all that, the fact of the matter is that the UU is co-division champs. You should be arguing that a 3-way tie for first in a division of 6 in a conference with little OOC success that also lost to an FCS team is pretty weak, as well as getting a better school than the UU to cheer for.

Go Cougs!!!!!!!!!
