Main difference between St Mary's and BYU last yr was consistency
BYU had a much more difficult Non Conference SOS - 77 vs St Mary's SOS - 165

They won the same amount of games against top 50 teams, but BYU lost a few more. The main difference is that St Mary's didn't have losses like BYU did against Portland and Pacific (at home... what?). St Mary's won all the games they were supposed to win and swept Gonzaga in the regular season.

St Mary's had a slightly better season last year, but not much better - I think it gave them a good boost not leaving the bay area until January playing the first 12 of 14 games at home, giving their new team a chance to gel and gain some confidence prior to conference play.

It will be interesting to see how things play out this year with our new highly anticipated additions (Bryant, Dastrup, Haws, Childs, Mika, Rose) and the loss of 2 good senior players.

This is definitely the most excited I have been for upcoming basketball and football seasons in quite a long while. Should be a tough battle between the top 3 in the WCC this yr. We will be young, but talented. Really crazy to think we are getting 6 new top 100 players. Most years you would love to get 1 or 2 top 100 guys, but 6... wow. We know Rose can be a legit distributor if healthy, Mika is definitely legit and I think all the others have good chances of panning out as well.
