As far as meeting the spending, I've looked into all the manufactured spending methods and all that. Mostly I just wait to open a card until I know I have a large purchase pending (trip planned, christmas shopping etc)

I was just stating that the premise that you trade $450 for $1000 is too simple since not everyone is able to "easily" and comfortably generate $4000 of credit card spending in a 3 month period
