I am a diehard Jazz fan, but Ihad no idea that Kanter smokes. Are you sure, or are you just going off of hersay or because you saw him with a cigar? Some players will have a cigar when on vacation, but few rarely smoke because of how serious they are about their bodies. The only players that I can actual think of that were actual smokers, were Vlade and Rodman. (Rodman may have started really smoking his last few seasons)
As for Kanter's brother coming here, not going to happen. That being said, Kanter's family disowned him this past summer. He was a public supporter of one of the religious leaders, Cleric Gulen that was over the failed military coup in Turkey. Even though he was not particularly religious while in Utah, that all changed after his trade to OKC, which put him closer to Gulen. Kanter has been extremely outspoken on his views of the Turkish government and their leadership, and has been rumored to been one of the donors of the opposition.
His family is very wealthy (father is a doctor) and well known in Turkey, and very politically connected. They have been very heavily criticized over the past few years, as Kanter became more and more vocal on Twitter and in media interviews, in his criticism of the Turkish leadership and government. Because of this, after the failed takeover, his father publicly disowned him and asked that he change his last name. I am sure that they had to separate themselves from him, or risk being arrested as collaborators.
Given the circumstances, I am sure that his brother has also had to keep his distance, as well. Enes was left off the national team because of his comments, and is potentially never going to be welcomed back into Turkey again after his associating with the Coup. I am glad that the Jazz traded him when they did. His defense was horrible, and they could probably see how his personality and associations were becoming a potential distraction.
