I have a hard time connecting Bronco's mantra to be assignment sound coupled with the idea that he never really taught. Maybe he did it in the film room more. I don't know.
But if he did run such high speed, high stress practices then it kind of explains to me why against Utah, especially the last few years, that BYU looked to be too wound up and had trouble executing in those games. The first quarter of the Vegas Bowl was the best example of this.
