is the one who typically has less fouls called on them and yet shoots more free throws.
When the team that is mugging you while playing defense....people will call it "being physical" or "in your face defense." Most of what I watched vs. Duquesne, but also in other games isn't what I call "good defense." It's consistently fouling without the refs actually calling it. That's what it REALLY is. They'll punish the other team for it,,,which is bizarre. I had one ref try to explain to me that the team who initiates the physicality will be given the benefit of the doubt.
Ok? So the team that is being more physical and CAUSING the contact and INITIATING the contact isn't being called for fouls, but down at the other end when the other team tries to match the physicality or even not....they'll get called for more fouls and the real physical team who started all this is shooting more free throws and being whistled for less fouls than the LESS physical team.
It's completely backwards and makes no sense. All the incentive in college basketball especially is given to the more physical team. And until they referee a game fairly teams that get away with it will continue to do it. There's little to no freedom of movement in college basketball.
Mug and be mugged.
