Both of them were fairly successful at UVU. Madsen has gone on to be beloved at--but still below .500 at--a lower-tier school in the worst P5 conference in the country. Now, I think he'll be great there, eventually (as I think he would be great here). But if you're talking about track record, the best track record BYU has ever had in a new hire was Tony Ingles, who had won a NC as a head coach. That...didn't work out so well.
I'm not concerned about track record. I want fit. And I think Burgess fits. And I think, apropos of your opinion, that the Yewt job won't be available for a good long while, anyway. I'd be more concerned about the Duke job, which, again, would be one you couldn't say no to. Also, that would be hilariously ironic.
Either way, not gonna happen. There are no "BYU" guys out there. There weren't last time, either. And why this Madsen love on that score? Dude has never darkened the door here except as a visiting HC.
