I always felt BYU was on the verge of something great with Pope
That never materialized, so looking back I'll remember crappy postseason play more than anything. Poor showings in the big12 and wcc tournaments, huge upset losses in the first round if the NCAA tournament, and 2x losses to very mediocre Utah teams are his legacy. Not to mention the many WCC regular season losses.
There were a few regular season wins that were fun, but in hindsight Holmoe should have given the job to Madsen over Pope imo. I doubt the results would have been worse.

No he’s not. Pope told all of the players that he signed last year through the portal that Chandler wasn’t coming to BYU
