No you didn’t. You didn’t need to take a picture.
I get that she’s in public and she has no right to privacy. But she’s also a living person with feelings who probably would appreciate you not making a spectacle of her on an internet message board.

Here’s a simple test I give myself to determine whether I should take a picture of someone in public: I ask myself if I would be comfortable walking up to them and asking for their permission to grab a pic. If the answer is “that could be awkward when they ask why…” then it’s usually not appropriate to take a pic.

The fact you felt the need to be discrete is a warning you wouldn’t have passed that test and need to give your fellow man (and woman) a little more respect.
