What’s so dumb about your argument is the tax is bourn by those who use the entertainment district and hotel revenues. Your payment of the tax is completely voluntary. It is no different than a toll road. That is not a subsidy. It is a use tax. Income tax or property tax dollars are not being used. Also, the city gets the concession rights which is huge money for it.
The silly thing is if you don’t recognize having an entertainment district bringing in sales taxes from restaurants and events has a huge economic benefit by funding the city coffers for police and infrastructure rather than issuing bonds for them. Whether its airports or downtown infrastructure, it is like a mortgage investment that makes something nice to attract more businesses and commerce.
Some forward thinking would be helpful for you to do. Think about the economic impact if the Jazz left for a place like Seattle.
