I always felt like the $5.99 for a grand slam 15 years ago was about the most I
was willing to pay for something of that quality. Even with the high inflation over the last few years, $5.99 in 2009 would be $8.72 in today's dollars. Of course, Denny's grand slam breakfast doesn't cost $8.99 now. It costs $13.99

IOW, cumulative inflation from 2009-2024 is about 45.6% (with half of that coming over the last 3 years). In that same time period, Denny's grand slam has increased in price by 133.6% - meaning it's price hikes has outpaced inflation by 60%.

I'd like to say this is unique to Denny's but it seems as most restaurants that used to be known for offering cheap food have similar price hikes (I no longer view McDonalds as an option to get my kids relatively cheap food at a good value).
