Algebra Simplification
What is x(xy)^2 simplified? My book is saying the answer is x^3y^2. But, if we break it apart, x(x+y)(x+y) = x(x^2+2xy+y^2) = x^3+2x^2y+xy^2. What am I missing?

There is no +

Exactly. It's x times y inside the parentheses, not x + y.

Breaking it apart gives x * x^2 * y^2 not x(x+y)(x+y). Like darkcoug said, no +

x * (x * y) * (x * y) = x * x * x * y * y = x^3 * y^2

Thanks! I don't know why I did that.

Your equation x(x+y)(x+y) isn't the broken down version of x(xy)^2. It is the
