Play the AD at your average school...
What sports do you cut if you are trying to balance a budget? Still draw people to your school as students (and spectators) and also meet Title IX requirements?

My first place to look is places where the professional leagues have a sophisticated/extensive minor leagues that draws the best away from even participating in college athletics. This means Baseball (-733,000) and Hockey (-511,000) would likely be gone.

I'm not really into or know what the minor league Soccer scene is in the U.S. but know that it is big in other countries. If that were to also reach those levels in the U.S. then that would be gone also (-481,000).

Women's sports that are big losses without a high number of participants/scholarships to meet Title IX standards would have to go. I'm not sure of how many are on a team but I'd guess Equestrian (-1,024,000), Crew or Rowing (-718,000) would be on the consideration list.

As an AD the non-revenue sports I'd want to continue the most are the Olympic branded sports that do not have a professional level. Things most desired to protect then would be things like Wrestling, Gymnastics, Track & Field/X Country, Swimming, Skiing, Water Polo and even perhaps Equestrian/Crew, even though listed as possibly eliminating under Women's #'s, if they can still fit in.

Other things on potential endangered list would be Olympic sports that have a professional level particularly when they have a minor development league, lesser circuit or the best go pro regularly instead of college AND we have pro's participate for the US at the Olympics. Things like Tennis, Golf, Ice Hockey, Soccer, Volleyball/Sand Volleyball, etc.

Basketball fits a few of those pro's at the Olympic parameters and does now have the NBA-D league but for the most part the best still attend at least one year of school before moving on to the pro's and also make most schools money for men's BB which would leave them as safe...women's BB (-1,482,000) however would be looked at further...
