The best way to judge a punt team is the net punt distance. If the ball is on the BYU 40 yd line when we punt and he pint travels to the opposing 20; that is a 40 yd punt. If it returned for 10 yards; that makes it a net 30 yard punt. Net yardage is the best measure. By the same token, kickoff teams should be measured by where the opposing team gets the ball.
