Just went through every schedule since 2010 and realized how much of a failure our team has been since 2010.
Why? For starters, the records say a lot. 7-6 in 2010. 10-3 in 2011. 8-5 in 2012. 8-5 in 2013. 9-4 this year, optimistically, against a historically easy schedule. But digging deeper, it's even worse. What game has BYU won in the last 5 seasons (including this one) that it should not have reasonably won? Maybe Texas? The 10-3 year we beat a bunch of pansies. We've also lost to a lot of cupcakes over the last 5 seasons.
An average coach (by definition) wins the games he should win, loses the games he should lose, and is about 50-50 against teams that are evenly matched. A good coach wins games the team has no business winning and doesn't lose games the team should win. Harbaugh did this at Stanford. Brian Kelly has done it at Grand Valley, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, and Notre Dame. A bad coach loses games he should win, and does not win games that the team would be expected to lose. Obviously great teams will lay an egg from time to time and bad teams will get lucky occasionally.
Bronco is below average. He repeatedly loses games he should win. Since 2010, I don't think he has won even a single game that this team shouldn't have won. He has made horrendous hiring decisions on offense and defense. He has made terrible decisions in delegating defensive play calling. He horribly mismanaged the QB position for three years. He has lost 4 years in a row to Utah.
I can't think of any metric since 2010 by which someone can call Bronco a good, or even average, coach.
