As an avid, long-time BYU fan, I have a confession to make. Yesterday, I watched the entire Utah game and part way into the first half, made the conscious decision not to flip over to the BYU/UNLV game but to simply DVR it. I wanted to witness the Ute's season go down in flames, hopefully losing out and finishing 6-6. In that scenario, I felt that it was possible that on a 5 game losing skid, they could potentially be passed over for a bowl.
I started out cheering for Stanford. However, at some point I started shifting north and found I was kinda pulling for Kyle/team. By the start of the 4th quarter I was fully behind them. My wife, who had left the room once she realized I was not going to switch over to watch the Cougars, came back for the final quarter and was also pulling for Utah.
I fell bad. I betrayed my team yesterday. Yet, I have to admit, I found the Utah/Stanford game very entertaining. It was like I had gone back in time to the beginning of our season, when the games meant something. Remember how it felt when we went into Texas to thump the Longhorns?
Was this a one time thing? What's going to happen next week when we are hosting Savannah State and Utah will be battling with Arizona?
