"Bad loss" is a media invention.
Second, almost every media outlet considers a loss to a sub-100 or sub-150 RPI team a "bad loss."
Third, Pepperdine's RPI is 147, San Diego is 144.
Every "Bubble Watch" I've looked at lists "Good Wins" or "Best Wins" as St. Mary's, Stanford and UMass, and "Bad Losses" with those three.
We can debate all we want, but "who did you beat" is far more important than "who did you lose to." BYU probably has 0 wins against tournament at larges, and definitely 0 wins against top-50 RPI teams.
Tonight is it for BYU's chances to get an at-large berth, and really for any objective argument for them to get in.
