I guess you could argue it both ways. Personally, when BYU is playing a high profile opponent, I usually cheer for the Cougs. I justify cheering for my rival by using this logic: I think it makes your team look better when your rival beats a good team. It is a very strange feeling thought to cheer for one's rival. For me it's a mental thing. I can logically tell myself that in this case it's better for the Utes if BYU wins...but, my heart usually disagrees w/ my head in these situations.
I can understand why any BYU fan (especially CBers) would cheer against the Utes 100% of the time. It is a bitter rivalry.
Maybe the hiatus from the annual football game has caused a few of you to get a little soft...
