...goes way overboard. The health benefits of breastfeeding are pretty staggering, and because of that, breastfeeding SHOULD be advertised as the #1 option for mothers.
However, women are formula shamed like crazy when they don't exclusively breastfeed their kids for the first 6 months of their lives and are made to feel like crappy parents if they use formula even a couple times (For a million different legitimate reasons). And then there is the judging that happens when parents who adopt use formula (Like they have any other choice) or when a mom doesn't generate enough milk to feed their baby (or twins) and they use formula to supplement or, heaven forbid, the dad takes a turn and feeds the kid with formula.
Ultimately, the societal pressure to breastfeed is a good thing, but people can be jerks about it.
