Revolution is inevitable because ESPN is a business. With 200-300K customers cutting the cord every month, ESPN/ABC is hemorrhaging paying customers. They won't admit it publicly but they have to be freaking out.
The response so far is threefold: 1) keep telling yourself this has nothing to with the product; it's all about the larger cord-cutting movement; it has nothing to do with ESPN; they love ESPN SC; the product is perfect... 2) slavishly/religiously stick to the ABC dictate to expand the tent, ESPN has got to expand beyond middle-aged, white men; more female hosts, more womens' softball, more soft, non-sports fuzzy stories, and above-all, a never-ending focus on LGBT issues; and if that doesn't increase the audience then double down; and if that doesn't increase the audience, triple down... 3) reassure yourself this will all go away in a week; football season is here and this will all just go away.
In the end, the accountants will prevail. ESPN management will be fired and the formula will be changed.
