No, top 5 finishes are everything
conference championships are just part of the process. But without an elite ranking, there's no validity.
Most CFB fans remember Utah, Boise and TCUs BCS wins but give no credence to Hawaii 2007, despite their WAC championship.
Why did 2008 TCU finish ranked higher than Boise? TCU had more losses and no conf championship.
Even now, what percentage of CFB fans could even tell you who won the MWC this year?
