There's no perfect answer. Conservative approach is to try to stop the bleeding and get some momentum, kicking a FG solves that. We hadn't been successful throwing the ball at all and Utah would have a heavy rush on at 4-9.

Allowing the opposing team to tip that many passes isn't just a fluke. It's part of the game and can/should be avoided.
