...for every great play he makes he seems to make 2-3 incredibly boneheaded ones where he takes a bad angle or overruns the play, wipes out the other BYU defender in the area and allows the opponent to waltz 50 yds for a score.

The amount of blitzing in a 3-4 vs. a 4-3 is quite different, generally.
