at a home game a couple years ago. It was definitely a shock to see the news - he was too young to go and I can say without hesitation that we lost one of the good guys.
I played a ton of basketball with him at Ricks - he was a great athlete and competitor. I didn't fully understand his health struggles but I'm certain that was the only thing keeping him from competing at a high level collegiality. I hung out with him a few times outside of the gym and I definitely see why he had so many friends. He showed genuine interest in people and was fiercely loyal to his friends.
Life isn't fair. I pray for his family and especially his young son. I'm thankful for the chance I had to know Richie Rowberry and call him a friend. I'm better because of it.
