I seriously wanted to see a sequel...
It would start with Phil and Rita having been married 5 years with 2 kids and now separated. She's living in Punxsutawney and he's now back in Pittsburgh as a news anchor. The weather man gets sick and Phil has to go cover the Groundhog Day event once again in Punxsutawney. This time they both get stuck in the time loop and can't get out until they work it out together. Oh and hilarity ensues...
