Losing Bradford was a big loss on the season for OK but make no mistake
...in that game...he wasn't making a big difference up to the point he got hurt. BYU had game-planned for them really well and our DL movement and Bronco throwing crazy blitzes at them from all angles, on delays, from DB's etc had their OL all turned around. Even though losing Bradford impacted them on the year (they finished 8-5) make no mistake about them, they were a loaded team, LOADED. They just didn't have a good backup QB that year, at least not an experienced one.

Don't forget 3 of the first 5 picks in the NFL draft that following spring were Sooners and 5 first round picks that year overall were Sooners plus with that draft and the following year there were something like 18-19 Sooners drafted from that 2 deep. The Sooners were legitimately the #3 team in the country and had we not cut the head off of the snake by knocking Bradford out for the year (he was the defending Heisman trophy winner) they might've had a repeat Heisman winner and could've finished #1 overall.

They were a great team and it took a great effort by our players and our coaches to pull out the win. Most people don't bother to put any effort or intellect into analyzing the game and just say that they (the Sooners) were overrated and not as good as everyone thought pre-season. The Sooners definitely were every bit a #3 team when we played them.
