Saved a neighbor's baby's life this morning. She choked on a plastic water bottle lid. My neighbors came outside running, yelling for someone to call 9-1-1, which I did so, then handed the phone to the oldest sister. The lid was stuck at the back of the throat, thankfully no deeper. She was struggling to breathe, and going limp. With my finger, I managed to swab/pull it out.
I don't know this neighbor very well. They are a Hispanic family, catholic, but friendly people. The dad's name is Ramón, we'd spoken a few times because I speak Spanish. I learned the baby'a name is Sophie, mom's name is Minerva. When I got the lid out, they took her inside; I told them to take her to the doctor because there was blood coming out of her mouth, probably from the throat getting scratched up. Ramón gave me the biggest bear hug that I will never forget.
My hands are still shaking.
Not looking for praise folks. Just needed to process and level out. We're on our way to the game.
All is well.
