One of my favorite guitarists is Mike Campbell from Tom Petty’s band. He tells the sort of miraculous story of how he
wrote the music for that song and Don Henley wrote the words and they recorded it with a finicky drum machine. Mike wasn’t doing well financially at the time and the proceeds from the song helped him avoid losing his home to foreclosure.
