Watched the new Road House on Amazon last night. Fun movie. 7.5/10. A little
slow at times. A better edit could probably trim ~15-20 minutes off and tighten it up a little... But it wasn't so slow it ruined anything. It was a fun action movie. Nice Friday night watch.
Lots of fights and brutality. Not an excessive amount of blood considering the amount of fighting. The best comparison we could think of was Bullet Train... But Bullet Train is a bit more silly/over the top. Road House kept things more... IDK... Serious...
A couple funny characters, but most characters were 100% straight forward, one dimensional, and predictable... And that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The action is the star here. The fun is the fights. The flimsy plot and under developed storylines are just a basic framework to enable the bare knuckle action.
Post Malone and Conner McGregor are in it. Post Malone is completely unobtrusive. If you didn't know it was him, you wouldn't have any idea it was "stunt casting." McGregor on the other hand... He doesn't ruin the movie, but I bet his fans like him much more than a casual viewer with zero interest in UFC or MMA or whatever...
It is exactly as advertised. If the preview looks fun, you will likely enjoy it. If you want a mindless action movie to watch while you "check out" for a couple hours... It absolutely fits the bill.
As for ages... Upper teenage is probably ok. It is rated R. No sex. Nudity is limited to McGregor's butt in many scenes. Violence is early, often, and brutal. Blood gore is there, but really not excessive in relation to the violence. We don't remember any profanity, so if there was any, it wasn't out of place or awkwardly forced in like some movies do.
7.5/10-
Pros - Fun action movie.
Cons- little slow at times, Conner McGregor
