He was honestly kind of desperate as his roster was not in good shape at all. Reid opened 1-7 that next year and was fired mid-season and the team won only a single game. Reid let his anger get to him and he took it out on a 17 year old kid by telling him he was letting down not just BYU, but his parents, the prophet, and the entirety of the LDS church's youth. It was honestly so over the top that many BYU fans just lost interest in even watching his teams play basketball. The team had a lot of injuries that year, but it was the only year I can ever remember where the MC attendance looked anything like Utah's attendance does now. Cleveland inherited a complete rebuild, not only with respect to the players but also with respect to getting butts back in the seats. It was bad.
