get to the school they want to be at is play at a small university.
We see this almost every year, so and so LDS talent wasn't recruited by BYU but is now a late bloomer and wants BYU to take a serious look at him.
Here's two examples of it this year.

There's a lot of risk in offering a guy just based on work outs alone. You need to have game footage. So maybe just go to SUU or UVU, and, if you really are as good as people say you are, you'll dominate and get the validation teams need to take you seriously. Then, when you enter the transfer portal, not only will BYU come calling, but a lot of other D1 teams as well. Just seems like a win win.
It also will get you more playing time faster. Tanner Toolson wasn't an under recruited player, but his story does show the benefit of playing at a smaller school. He spent a year at BYU riding the bench, then went to UVU for more playing time and had a good season. Maybe he could have skipped the BYU year and just started at UVU. Tanner could have a break out season next year and have his pick of P5 teams that want him.
Instead of developing just through practice, you get to develop through playing time.
IDK just my 2 cents on the situation.
