Jimmer and the Steve Nash comparison

One of the things that Nash does well and I think Jimmer could improve on is knowing when to keep your dribble rather than chucking up a bail out runner.

Jimmer usually does a good job of drawing contact and getting the foul called, but there have been several stretches in several games where he isn't getting the contact calls in the lane, and he ends up leaving his feet, and having to chuck some crazy pass to someone on the perimeter who may or may not be prepared for it.

Nash has an uncanny ability to know when to shoot or when to keep the dribble. Jimmer will get better at this, especially as his confidence grows in his teammates (i.e. that they can finish).

Some on here have been saying we should move Jimmer to the 2 spot, but I just don't see that happening. His ball handling is better than people think, IMO, and the reality is, he will have to be a PG at the next level. And I want the ball in his hands...a lot. Loyd is too frenetic with the ball, bless his heart.

I love Jimmer. He is awesome. He is level headed, doesn't talk smack, is an old school gym rat who just loves basketball, and you can see the joy the game brings him whenever he is on the court. That joy, my friends, is lost in today's "And-1 Tour" hoops culture.

Jimmer will return next year, because NBA scouts are going to tell him that he needs to improve his lateral quicks, which I think he will.

I will savor every moment of the 2010-2011 season, because it will be another generation before we get another one like him.
