I'm not disagreeing but I would be interested to know how he believes that the NBA is the best place to help him "develop personally on and off the court."
I grew mentally and emotionally on my mission and then continue to grow in college. I was exposed to ideas that I had never thought of and it opened my mind to other people and their thoughts.
I've never played in a professional sport, but I'm not sure the NBA would be the most conducive environment to grew personally and emotionally as a human being. To me, going to college for another few years, being exposed to many ideas and view points, and experiencing life as young adult would be better than the NBA.
I'm not criticizing his decision just wish he would have expanded on that more.
