I’m not sure if any of you have heard this story yet.
Dalton Santos is a LB at UT. His mother recently discovered she will need to have open heart surgery. Unfortunately, she is uninsured and the sole provider for her three children. Initial estimates for the surgery were in the $5000 range. A facebook plea went out and money trickled in. Unfortunately, after additional test, the costs and associated impacts ballooned to $75,000. That’s when Dalton made his plea to Longhorn Nation. They are now up to around $29,000.
I went to High School with Vista and saw some panic and rumblings on facebook last week. Initially it appeared very grim. While the financial impact is significant, I think many are pleased that she will be okay once she has the surgery.
