Huh????
I don't see how that move would drive any of those people "nuts". You're talking about Colorado remember....

The only thing that would drive any of those people nuts is if we signed a deal with someone other than the big 12 and then the powers that be required the big 12 to actually HAVE 12 teams for a championship game. They would be left to decide to break off with the truly irreverent such as KU or Iowa state and make a super conference with someone else OR pick up someone like Houston or UCF which are huge program down grades from what BYU has to offer historically, parody, and financially.

The more I think about this the more I think this media fire is being stoked by moot perceptions. Just as it was in the BCS, if you are not one of the 5 or 6 super power teams (i.e. Alabama, LSU, USC, TX, or maybe Ohio State, ND, FSU and a few others depending on the year ) you MUST be 12-0 to make it. If one of these teams has more than 2 losses, which they always will because they play each other, and there are only 2 or 3 undefeateds including BYU, BYU has an excellent chance of getting in and if they didn't there would be fire across the nation. People love the underdog... we all do. As long as we stay independent and we continue scheduling solid teams the only time we will be left out undeservedly is if we are 12-0 and 4 or 5 in the power 5 are also 12-0 and it wouldn't necessarily be unjust if they left us out in that case.

As long as we keep the contract with ESPN and no specific regulations against our participation are added we likely would be better off where we are than in the cellar of a P5 (which we would never be because we are awesome). The ACC and SEC did not say they would not schedule us just that of the 4 extra games each team must schedule one must be a P5. The talking heads will ALWAYS include a discussion about the "little guy" doing big things. So a 10-0 BYU team will get much more exposure than a 10-0 P5 team. People will cheer for us and if we make it to 12-0 the engines will be roaring to have the section committee put us in.

It all comes down to WINNING. My fate is NEVER out of my own hands and neither is BYU's
