Summary:
Not perfect, but this is a summary.

Jim: Named to the Maxwell and Davey O'brien watch lists. What kind of emotions do you have.

Taysom: Just anxious. Been a long time since we've played anyone else. The entire off season has been building toward today. We're anxious.

Jim:Were you totally comfortable in the new offense last year?

Taysom: By the middle of the season I was comfortable. Last year we had a new offensive staff, new structure, this was entirely different. By mid year I was comfortable.

Jim: How did you feel coming off a knee injury, new offense, new offensive staff?

Taysom: Individually I was satisfied but I was a little disappointed as a team. There were a couple of games that were close that we could have won. Interceptions too high. percentage too low. Those are goals I have worked on.

Jim: Tell us about the Texas game. 259 yards. What's it like when you are in a zone.

Taysom: I don't really know. I had a lot of respect for Texas and I was a little anxious. Never thought it was over until the last couple of drives in the 4th. Talked with KVN and we were ecstatic. I laid in bed til about 3 and couldn't sleep. A team mate called and he couldn't sleep either. It was a dream come true. Playing a team like that and winning like that.

Jim: What's it like to have a team mate that can call at 3. Talk about chemistry.

Taysom: That's what makes it fun because some of my closest friends are team mates and you can't simulate those experiences with anyone else. Guys that have graduated that are in the NFL, we talk daily.

Jim: Steve Young said about you, "I see a better me."

Taysom: It's a great honor. Obviously Steve is a guy I look up to a lot. A guy I grew up watching. To hear him say that means a lot. I'm comfortable and confident but hearing that builds my confidence.

Jim: What's it like to be a QB at BYU.

Taysom: There is a lot that goes into it. There is a rich tradition. Everyone is looking for the next Steve or next Detmer or Bosco. To be the QB here is an intricate job. Lots of pressure but a lot of perks. Lots of opportunity to get into the community. It's been a good thing.

Jim: You didn't mention another one, tell us about Jim McMahon.

Taysom: His ability to play the game and be successful regardless of personality. As long as you take care of your business on the football field and the guys around you trust you, you're OK. Guys like Jim and Steve and even Max and John Beck.

Jim: Tell us about the Manning Passing Academy.

Taysom: Funnest thing was to be around other D-1 QB's. Not a lot of people can relate to being a starting D-1 QB. Got to sit down with Peyton and Eli. Get their advice. Has been good to incorporate their advice in the film room.
