ND. With a 9-game conference schedule and ND playing USC/Stanford, a scheduling
imbalance was created. Each year, one school would have had its bye week early in September and then forced to play 8 or 9 straight games.
Being independent, we are flexible in our scheduling and so it was a natural fix.
These opportunities will continue far in the future because ND uses the USC/Stanford games for recruiting in California.
