If a life insurance owner commits suicide it voids the life ins policy right?
Thats what I've always heard - that a life insurance policy is void if the owner kills himself/herself.

Reason I ask is an employee was going through a divorce that was overall not very messy, husband was an alcoholic and had depression but I liked him, after many years together they decided to go their own ways. He continued to drink alot but didnt seem to blame her, after they agreed to seperate and divorce he moved to the other side of the country to try and figure out what to do with his life next but as a newly single guy got into some debt on a new vehicle, 4 wheelers, guns, etc.

Well he just killed himself. The divorce was not finalized although she had signed the papers, he hadn't. So now she is still executor of his will since that hadn't been changed, and I'm wondering if she is also going to have to assume the debt on the stuff he had bought. Since the divorce isn't final she is of course having to interact with his family on funeral costs and burial plans, and everything that will come after that.

Nothing known for sure but since he didnt change the will with her in charge then most likely she would be the beneficiary of the life insurance....but he killed himself so is it possible she is stuck with all the debts and no life insruance to help?
