The movie wasn't even lame because of him. It's because they tried way too hard. They see people laugh at the first one and have to one up it and just end up trying way too hard. Mainly by bringing too many people into it. Adding Shaq, Llama boy, etc. Try so hard it's just cheesy. Happens all the time.

Same with the 2nd Anchorman. Way too many lame cameos, dragging the story on, and try-too-hard jokes in an attempt to one up all of the jokes they already used in the first one.
