The DFW market is already owned by Texas, Texas A&M, OU, etc. TCU brought no perceptible value other than the fact that they were a successful mid-major football program that would do anything to get a seat at the big boy table. Now that the level of competition has increased significantly for them and they are no longer media darlings, the picture makes a strong statement regarding TCU's place in the hearts of local football fans.
