1) being left out of the playoffs will IMO sway the relunctant schools within the Big12 to change their stance and agree to expansion including BYU
2) I know conferences want BYU as a full package (if, Sunday play was not an issue). But plan two allows for expansion including BYU while allowing the Olympic sports to have the perfect scheduling format. I remember several former basketball coaches at various schools saying even numbers works in football but odd number of teams works best in basketball and other Olympic sports.
Add BYU in football only plus an additional school (UCF or Cincinnati) in all sports. Big12 football reaches 12 and holds a championship game. Olympic sports has eleven schools. This provides each schools basketball team to play 20 conference games vs 22 without having byes in the schedule. BYU's Olympic sports remains in the WCC.
Go Cougars!!!!!!!!!!!!
