If they continue to win games, especially against teams from P5 conferences, at some point, those conferences will have to acknowledge that BYU is a worthy opponent that should "count" as a P5-calibre game. And then, it wouldn't be much of a stretch for a conference like the B12 to set up a formal scheduling agreement where BYU could play 4 or 5 games each year against B12 teams and have some sort of access to their bowl tie-ins, as well as have the benefit of a better SOS.

The B12 would like this because they don't have to formally invite BYU to be in their conference, they don't have to worry about Sunday play (other sports would stay in WCC), and would still have the benefit of consistently playing a good, well-respected BYU team.

In my view, all it would take to make this happen is for BYU to have a couple of very good seasons back-to-back.

What am I missing?
